Work on fibre broadband could start in August

Local company Complete Utilities has been awarded the contract for installing the Gigaclear fibre broadband system in Maisemore and hopes to be able to start work before the end of August.  The installation to a connection point outside each property in the village is being funded by central government under the Fastershire scheme.  There will be a charge for taking the fibre from these connection points into indvidual premises.

Representatives of both Complete Utilities and Gigaclear will be attending the next Parish Council meeting on Monday 3rd September to give an overview of the fibre broadband project and what it means for individual householders.

Complete Utilities will also be circulating a letter about this to all households, which can be read online here (large file).

Plan for 60 new houses in Maisemore turned down

Tewkesbury Borough Council has refused permission for the application to build another 60 new houses on land adjacent to Bell House Farm.

The reasons for the refusal are given in the Council's Decision Notice, which can be read here.

The applicant can, of course, appeal against this decision, but several of the reasons for refusal are on very strong policy grounds, including the excessive growth in housing in Maisemore within the plan period that would result.
