I've had a letter from Highways England, presumably sent to me in Maisemore owing to the fact that the diversion route potentially goes through the village:

Dear Customer
Re: A449/A40 resurfacing works
I'm writing to inform you of some upcoming maintenance works on the A449/A40, near
Ross-on-Wye.
This work will be carried out by our contractor, Kier, on our behalf.
What we're doing and why? What are the benefits?
We'll be resurfacing the A449 and A40 from the A449 Travellers Rest roundabout to
the A40 Wilton roundabout. The work has been identified following the deterioration of
the carriageway. The work will also include the repainting of road markings, replacing
road studs and repairing damaged drainage gullies. The newly resurfaced road will
provide a smoother and safer surface for road users, and will extend the life of the
road whilst minimising the need for future maintenance.
When will this work take place?
We'll work from 7 September 2020 to 21 October 2020, Monday to Friday, 8pm to
6am.
To minimise disruption to our customers, the work will be delivered in phases.
Please refer to the signs at the side of the road for further information, including
closures and diversions. Alternatively, information can also be found on our website at
highwaysengland. co. uk/roads.
Our planned road works may be subject to change due to weather or unforeseen
circumstances. We'll notify you by using the black and yellow signs at the side of the
road should there be any change to the programme.
What does this mean for you
During closures, we'll provide a fully signed motorway and non-motorway diversion
route. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the closures at all times.
If you'd like to be kept up to date with future works along the A449/A40, please
subscribe to our mailing list by emailing noreplyA49WMids@highwaysengland.co.uk.
I'd also like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption to those living
close to the work. We'll make every effort to carefully manage noise levels and
additional lighting to minimise the impact.
We're following the latest government guidelines and will incorporate any new
measures, including social distancing guidance, into our safe workplace planning.

I've deduced that the area of works is as I've indicated here - the website map was blank and didn't show any diversion routes.
