Neighbourhood Watch Message Advice re: Frauds and Scams With lock down continuing the number of reports being received re: scams and attempted frauds are continuing to rise. Please be aware of the following :- HMRC (Income Tax) will never ring you to advise that a warrant is out for your arrest unless you pay money for any alleged tax owed. Amazon will never ring you to advise that your subscription has failed to go through and to repay it using the details given, or make any request which involves you making any other payments. The Police will never ask you to assist in a fraud enquiry by taking money out of your account so that it can be checked to see if it is counterfeit and that they will collect it. Your Bank will never ring you to say that your bank/credit cards have been compromised and that they will deliver new ones and collect the old ones. Covid-19 Vaccinations are FREE, do not respond to any calls/emails claiming that they can be purchased ahead of time when you are due to be vaccinated. Microsoft will never ring you and claim that you have a problem with your computer which they can fix. Never allow anyone to access your computer over the phone. Be aware of calls made from 0800 numbers as these can be scam calls the same as any of the above. National Insurance will never ring you claiming that there are problems with your number/records Never give out your personal or banking details to anyone who rings up, including your National Insurance number.
