Which? warns of Amazon Prime scam
|
There’s something you need to know - A malicious phone scam is doing the rounds. An automated call pretending to be from Amazon Prime is telling victims their subscription will be ‘renewed’ for £39.99 – even if they’re not a customer. From here, it’s highly likely scammers will attempt to extort bank details and/or personal data from you. We’ve notified Amazon, but if you receive this call, hang up immediately. Find out more about this scam, and read our advice on how to keep you and your family safe. |

More scamming
I've just had a text message claiming to be from EE - with whom I don't have an account - and obviously trying to get my bank or card details.
It reads:
We were unable to process your latest bill. In order to avoid fees, update your payment information via: [website address deleted].
If you get anything like this, please don't click on the website address.

Police advice about burglaries
|

|
Burglaries can be really difficult to solve because often there are
no witnesses, evidence or matching forensics. High-definition CCTV,
digital video doorbells and forensic marking liquids are helping us to
capture more evidence than ever before. As part of our efforts to promote safer days and nights, as well as burglary deterrents that also capture evidence, we’re giving away one free video doorbell. ![]() If you would like to enter our free prize draw you can do so at our website here. To qualify for the draw you need be aged over 18, live in Gloucestershire and answer the qualifying questions about what the ‘WIDE’ combination of security devices are. We’ve been promoting this combination over the past few months. The answers can also be found on our website. Gloucestershire Constabulary has not paid for this prize and has permission to give it away. Burglary caused a heart attack: ‘Sarah’ from the Cotswolds suffered a heart attack after being burgled. She returned home to find a lifetime of memories, including her father’s medals and mother’s wedding ring, gone. She immediately broke down and felt an awful pain in her chest. Watch and listen to Sarah’s story here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbIOOMAS6tE ![]() Burglary advice: Burglary is an appalling crime. Its impact can be emotional, psychological, financial and physical. Burglars look for opportunities. They want to find empty-looking homes, where they can’t be seen by neighbours and where they can get in and out quickly. Take away their opportunities by installing the ‘WIDE’ combination of security devices and by carrying out the actions on our burglary webpage: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/police-forces/gloucestershire-constabulary/areas/gloucestershire/campaigns/campaigns/2019/burglary/ Can you identify any of these people? There are a number of images on our website of people we would like to talk to in relation to burglaries. Can you help us identify them? Take a look here: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/police-forces/gloucestershire-constabulary/areas/gloucestershire/intel/id-sought/ |
