Wild flowers on the approach to Maisemore

The Parish Council is hoping that it will be possible to sow wildflowers in the wide verge along the A417 on the approach to Maisemore from the Hartpury side.  There's a plan of the proposal here.

Some funding has been allocated in the Council's budget for this, but success will depend on volunteers helping with the project, which is being co-ordinated by Emma Holdaway.  You can contact her on ejholdaway@hotmail.co.uk or 07984419596.

The biggest job to start with will be scraping off the existing vegetation - and we have a head start on this because Mike Bubb - who runs Maisemore's groundworks company, Dirtworks - has offered to use his equipment to get the job done. Many thanks for that, Mike!

The wildflowers will be planted to create a bright and striking approach to our village and hopefully a reminder to motorists that they are approaching a residential area.  This will also encourage our local bee populations as the wildflowers will be nectar rich.

If you are interested in helping with this project - or you want to use your own garden or verge to help get Maisemore buzzing, please do get in touch with Emma.
