Flooding update from Tewkesbury Borough Council - 27/2/20

Weather and river levels
River levels are set to remain as is over the next few days and unlikely to rise any further over the weekend.
There is some rain expected this weekend but this is not going to be significant or cause any further issues. It is expected river levels will start to fall over the course of next week however, there is more rain expected over Wales during the week which is expected to track down the River Severn late next week. Therefore levels are likely to remain high until the second week of March.

Roads
The majority of roads are remaining open and it is unlikely that these will need to close, with the exception of the B4213 at Haw Bridge and A417 Maisemore - which is being closely monitored and opened when river levels allow and traffic managed with the use of traffic signals. Please keep an eye on the county council’s website for information on road closures:

Sandbags
Officers were in the Sandhurst and Ashleworth area yesterday and visited 150 households to ensure that residents were watching the flood levels and had sufficient sandbags. 300 filled sandbags were delivered yesterday along with 400 empty bags to residents in Longford, Sandhurst and Ashleworth.

We continue to have a good supply of filled sandbags at the Public Services Centre – they are available to vulnerable residents who have registered with us to receive assisted waste collections and we have mechanisms in place to deliver to these vulnerable residents, should this be necessary. If you know if someone who needs sandbags outside of office hours, please call: 01684 293445. Alternatively, we have empty sandbags that residents can take and fill themselves – builders merchants should have a good stock of sand or soil can also be put in bin bags and used in the same way as sandbags.
A reminder that our out of hours number is: 01684 293445
