Make a note of this future event taking place on Thursday 12 October 2017 at St Giles Church Maisemore – an evening of poetry. The title is “A Harvest of Gloucestershire Poetry” with some beautiful poetry by poets born in Gloucestershire, some of whom lived in Gloucestershire too.
We will be privileged to have the granddaughter of F. W. Harvey reading his poetry, the daughter of the late Dr Cookson reading his poetry, and Eric Freeman will be reading poetry with his wonderful Forest of Dean accent! We will also be hosting a living poet: Adam Horovitz from Stroud, the son of Frances and Michael Horovitz, a great friend of Laurie Lee. Adam's poems will be read out as will those of Frank Mansell, Leonard Clark, Eva Dobell, Edward Thomas and Melford Jones.
Starting at 7.30pm, there will be a break for refreshments and it's expected to finish before 10pm. There will be no charge for entry but a retiring collection will be held for money to go towards the provision of a defibrillator for Maisemore.
