St Giles Church news

Pleased to say the weather was kind for the wedding of Scott and Louise and also for the Christening of Isabella and Hugo later in the month where the church was full of friends and relatives. At our PCC meeting we once again discussed the need for a treasurer in the near future. If anybody could help in this way, even if just with the week to week outgoings, please contact me, many thanks.

We are now into the month of joint services and at the first one at Hasfield it was great to meet up with the Godsell family again, before they join us next year. They each told us of their activities since we last met and have certainly been busy!

We were so sad to learn of the death of Marian Yardley who was such an amazing person, organising and providing much of the food for the fortnightly Friendship club, along with her band of helpers.  Marian also donated the wreath to be laid at the church memorial on Remembrance day. Her kindness and bravery through her illness will not be forgotten. The funeral service at the family church, where she and Terry were married was full to overflowing with many folk standing outside in the rain.  It was lovely to hear Canon John Evans remembering her younger days and those of the rest of the family life.

May I remind you of the change  of service time on sunday 24th which will be at 9.30, for this month only, this is to fit in with other services.  Next month we will be announcing details of our exciting Poetry evening at St. Giles, so watch this space!!
